Introduction to Revit® for Theater Integrators

Live Virtual Course for 1-10 students

Are your clients sending you Revit models instead of CAD drawings?  Do you need to be able to pull plans and sections from a Revit model?  This virtual course provides an introduction to the Revit or Revit LT interface, and illustrates how to format plan and section views for CAD export.

Course Summary

This course is intended to introduce specialty equipment contractors and engineers to the BIM processes most widely used in the design and construction industry.  The information focuses on workflows to import and export model information to and from Autodesk Revit for use in submittal drawings.

The goals of the course are as follows:
  1. Gain a basic understanding of BIM.
  2. Understand how to navigate Revit, link files, and create a workflow for import and export.
  3. Have a basic understanding of how to create and modify views in Revit.

Course Structure

This is a live virtual course.  Each training session will take place online via Zoom, and will last 1 to 1.5 hours each. We provide 1 training session per week, and students should anticipate an additional 1-2 hours of exercises outside of the online training. While we offer the syllabus as a guide, learning may be customized to the students' needs.

About our virtual courses:
  • While Performance BIM will be presenting, this is not intended as a “lecture course.”
  • Training should be a dialog, and discussions / questions / alternate viewpoints are encouraged.
  • If a question covers a topic that requires more extensive discussion, we may request to table that until another session.
  • The session organization serves as a template and may be adjusted based on project needs.

Prerequisites

Each participant must have the following software packages available during the sessions to participate in real time:

  • Autodesk Revit v2024.  Note – We can begin the work within Revit LT.  However, there are substantial limitations related to our industry and collaborating with other trades that may make this challenging.  If you are planning to work regularly within Revit, you should consider an AEC Design Collection subscription, which will include Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks (among other software).
  • Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro license (optional).  This license will be required to work “live” on an ACC site.  We will provide an overview of this product and how it pertains as part of the course.
Participants should have access to a minimum of 2 screens – 1 to watch the presentation, and 1 to run the software in real time.
